On July 3rd, I headed out to Costco at 9am to prepare for Tony’s Independence Day potluck BBQ. After shopping around for an hour, I ended up buying Kirkland tortilla chips, Cape Cod Sea Salt chips, Sriracha Almonds, Cuties Mandarins, Costco cookies and bananas. Originally, I wanted to buy a watermelon as well, but Shannon convinced me that it would take too much work to prepare.

On July 4th, Shannon and I had coffee at Philz before heading over to Swegles Park in Sunnyvale. We arrived around 11am. Tony, Eric and Sean were already there. Over the next few hours, the other guests (William, Louis, Jason, Calvin, Torrance, Robert) slowly streamed in.

I wasn’t actually that hungry, so all I had was a hotdog and half a burger. Both were delicious. There were also grilled chicken skewers and BBQ ribs, but I was too full to eat any more. However, I did drink a lot of sugar (White Claw Mango, Tastea w/o boba, Melon fruit juice box, Trader Joe’s Tonic Water).

By 3:15pm, Shannon was tired, so we left the party early. The people at the party barely touched anything we brought so we had a lot to lug back. Both bags of chips, the bananas, and the cookies were untouched. The Cuties were by far the most consumed. The almonds also saw some action, but that’s only because I walked around sharing it with people. After getting home, Shannon and I took a loop around my block and split the potluck goods before parting ways.

As a result of standing for hours while wearing Chacos, my feet and my thighs were really sore. I spent the rest of the day relaxing at home (listened to Cosmic Queries, watched Spirit Untamed, and wrote up this blog post). All in all, it was a nice July 4th. Happy Birthday America!
