I had a CPS seizure at 9:20am on Tuesday. According to my mom, I had just finished breakfast. As I was heading over to the kitchen counter to brew my collagen powder drink, I became confused and started wobbling backwards on my feet. My mom rushed over, steadied me and then listened to me babble some nonsense about tea bags.
What makes this seizure worth mentioning is that I seemed to do everything right. None of my usual reasons (bad posture, breathing poorly, blood circulation, fatigue, stress) seemed to be in play. However, if I had to guess, I would have to blame bad posture / breathing poorly. The night before, my neck was stuck in an awkward position for the longest time.
I felt shitty the rest of the day. At random points in time, my chest was cold and my heart started beating fast. Things felt much better after I went on a 20min elliptical run in the afternoon.
The run is what makes me suspect breathing is the issue. I don’t know the proper names, but it seems like I have two airways (let’s call them “upper” and “lower”). Breathing through the upper seems to fill the chest more. However, most of the time I breathe solely through my lower. The previous night’s awkward position made it so that I had a shortage of air in my upper; the elliptical run helped partially refill, thus making me feel better.
As with most things concerning my seizures, this is all just a theory. It does feel credible because it explains why sleeping on my side causes more grand mal seizures and why running on the elliptical seems to give me more energy than running outside (I gulp in a lot more air into my upper on elliptical runs).
PS: improper breathing could also be the reason why my ribcage felt stretched and thin this week
