On August 20th, 2021 I placed a $373 order for a red Apple Watch Series 6 40mm. Apple’s next big release is likely coming soon, but I went through with it anyway because the deal was too good. (The retail price for the model I chose was $500.)

My parents played a big role in that purchasing decision. My mom is in love with the fall detection SOS feature of Apple Watch. Her reasoning is that it could help immensely if I suffer a CPS seizure while out on my own. My dad was the one who found the deal in the first place. The ~25% off deal was actually first seen on B&H Photo Video, but we were blocked from purchasing because the online store was observing Jewish Shabbat. Luckily, Amazon had the same bargain.

I like my Garmin Fenix 5X, but it can be bulky at times. Not to mention, the Garmin Fenix 5X is not really a smartwatch. You can’t use it to directly make calls, send texts or store music / podcasts. What’s enticing about the Apple Watch is that it can completely replace my phone. Being able to walk around outside with nothing in my pockets makes me feel free. Another great aspect of the Apple Watch is that it has better health features. I’m no longer as obsessed about blood oxygen levels, but SpO2 and ECG should be nice for sleep monitoring.

Anyway, the new Apple Watch is set to arrive in T-minus 4 days. (By the time I placed my order, the watch was out of stock so I had to patiently wait.) Please stay tuned for my initial thoughts and impressions!

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
