Every time I go to the dentist, I drive past The City Fish on Stevens Creek. This hole-in-the-wall British chain restaurant across the street from the Cupertino USPS Office has mystified me for ages. I’ve been meaning to suggest it as a dining spot to my friends, but nothing ever came to be.

Anyway, on Monday I ordered their signature fish & chips dish off GrubHub. To raise the price over $15 (aka the minimum amount for free delivery on GrubHub), I increased the number of pieces of Alaskan pollock from one to three.

The $20 meal was good. The crispy fried fish went down easily and I managed to finish two pieces. The remaining piece and most of the French fries (aka “chips”) were gifted to my younger brother Chris.

Interestingly enough, there was no ketchup included with the meal. (There were only two small cups of tartar sauce in the bag.) Research revealed that that may not have been a mistake. On Wikipedia, it states that “one in three in England” put ketchup on their chips; most British folk stick to salt and vinegar.

Would I buy it again? Sure, if I was in the mood for seafood. However, their other options are significantly more expensive than the fish & chips, making me wary.
