Back to the office has come. I spent Wednesday with my DXS team in their new Sunnyvale MP1 office. For the morning commute, I rode Google bus W.Sunnyvale / SVL @ Blue Hill. It was my first time riding the Google bus since the pandemic sent everyone home three years ago. Compared to VTA, the seats were nicer. It also saved me a dollar. However, it did take longer. (Google W.Sunnyvale / SVL = 45min ride, Google Saratoga/Sunnyvale = 60min, VTA 56 = 35min.)
Google Sunnyvale was packed with peeps. I was officially let into the MP1 workspace after engineer Jaspreet came across me sitting in the MP1 lobby near the end of 9:30 standup.
Spending all day in the office without access wasn’t as challenging as it might sound. Along with three other TVCs, I spent the whole day in a visitor conference room (“Rube Goldberg”). The only completely off-limits areas were the Google employee cubicles. (Hey, as long as I can access the kitchen with the snacks and soda, I’m happy.)
Before leaving, our team discussed future plans. I’ve agreed to come into Sunnyvale MP1 every Wednesday.
PS: when the Google Bus reached MP5, there were a total of 11 riders on board besides myself.
