The last of the LabCorp results came in on Monday, September the 20th. Nearly all of them (including all three gastroenterology tests ordered by Dr Okafor) passed. The ones that failed are listed below:
- WBC 3.0 < 3.4 x 10E3/uL
- Neutrophils (Absolute) 0.8 < 1.4 x 10E3/uL
- Calcium 10.4 > 10.2 mg/dL
- Albumin 5.1 > 5.0 g/dL
- Cholesterol 226 > 199 mg/dL
- LDL Cholesterol 146 > 99 mg/dL
- Magnesium 2.4 > 2.3 mg/dL
- Hematocrit 51.3 > 51%
The biggest takeaway is that once again, my cholesterol levels are through the roof. I was shocked and disappointed to learn this, considering that I’ve been so consistent with my cardio exercise (20min elliptical runs / neighborhood jogs with one day of rest per week).
Anyway, I blame my diet. Starting last Tuesday, I stopped eating egg yolks in the morning. Last time I did this small change, it made all the difference. Without changing much else, I was able to lower my cholesterol from 222 to 168 in the span of three months from July to October 2020.
Speaking of health, the two week mark has been hit for my Miralax treatment. Safe to say, it has not stimulated enough bowel movements to prevent stomach bloating and gas. Starting tomorrow, I’m putting the drug on hold. Following Dr Okafor’s advice, I’m going to move to the low FODMAP diet instead. Finding tasty foods that fit the criteria for keto, low cholesterol, and low FODMAP will be difficult, but I’m still going to try.
PS: as for the low white blood cell count / low neutrophils, I blame my medications + supplements
