My memory sure is bad. Saturday night, a YouTube search (“Bad Guys review”) revealed that I had already watched The Bad Guys movie; many of the videos listed had halfway finished view time meters. When I informed my dad, he claimed to have known it all along, but didn’t tell me because I seemed to be enjoying the show. Looking back, a few things felt uncannily familiar, but the whole time I was under the impression it was new.
Checking my prior blog posts, I saw he was indeed correct. I had watched The Bad Guys on July 2nd as well. September 3rd minus July 2nd = 63 days = 9 weeks, giving me somewhat of an excuse. If we had stuck to normal viewing pattern of two per week, that’s 17 films in between, plus countless TV shows (aka a whole lot of content to process).
It’s fairly impressive how I’m able to live my everyday life with such poor memory, but it does get in the way. It’s likely the reason why it takes me so much effort to learn new piano pieces, why I don’t like board game nights, why I have trouble with software engineer interviews (despite being competent), and why I love this blog / diary so much.
Things have improved slightly compared to a couple years back (I can enjoy TV shows without standalone episodes), but they are still not up to par (couldn’t remember the name of Animal Crossing: New Horizons despite putting endless hours into it). Anyway, to memorize more, I’m going to continue working on my dysphagia. Weird as it sounds, I feel the two are related.
PS: started watching Severance season 1
