Acne. It’s a pesky little problem that can wreak havoc on our daily lives. And let me tell you, when it decides to rear its ugly head (literally) on your scalp, it’s a whole new level of frustration. My battle with acne on my head (“scalp folliculitus”) has been particularly brutal, leaving me desperate for a solution.

I can’t pinpoint the exact culprit, but I believe that oily foods trigger it. Unlike other parts of the body, acne on the scalp makes it hard for me to focus / concentrate. The latest breakout was particularly bad. There was so much oil and pus that my pillow covers got stained badly. I knew I had to act fast to eliminate the acne and resume my normal routines.

Initially, I succumbed to popping the pimples. Sure, it provided immediate relief, but the strain it put on my right arm was no joke. Plus, I knew it wasn’t a sustainable solution in the long run.

Seeking alternative remedies, my mom suggested hydrogen peroxide. However, after some research, I discovered that it wasn’t generally recommended for treating acne due to its harsh nature. So, I continued my quest for a more suitable treatment.

That’s when I stumbled upon salicylic acid. Known for its effectiveness in treating acne, I decided to give it a try. While it did show some progress, the results were slow. Frustrated but not defeated, I turned to another promising remedy: tea tree oil.

Tea tree oil, with its natural antibacterial properties, seemed like a promising addition to my skincare routine. I began applying it diligently in the mornings, followed by the salicylic acid in the evening showers. The combination of these two treatments proved to be a game-changer.

Slowly but surely, I started to see improvements. The pimples began to shrink, and the inflammation reduced significantly. It wasn’t an overnight miracle, but each day brought me closer to clear skin. After weeks of consistent treatment, I can proudly say that my battle with scalp acne was a success. The once angry red bumps have gone away (for now). And the best part? No more strain on my weak right shoulder from popping pimples!
